I'm working with a Del OptiPlex 7010 board. I've been using a 1050 for two years and recently upgraded to a GTX 1660 SUPER. I'm noticing only modest performance gains. Previously, I played at 1600x900 in mid-high settings, now it's 1080p in high-ultra but similar results. Temperatures are stable, CPU stays around 69°C during games, and the GPU consistently stays below 70°C. My setup includes a Core i5-3550 with 16GB DDR3, GTX 1660 SUPER, and a 500GB SSD with a 7200RPM HDD. The bottleneck calculator says I'm about 32% limited, but I'm unsure if that's accurate. Would upgrading to a Core i7-3770 help, or should I consider getting a Ryzen motherboard instead? Thanks!
I lean toward agreeing. The 3550 runs much slower than a Ryzen 3 1200 and feels outdated compared to today’s standards. I doubt many AAA titles will even run properly.
Absolutely, in games the performance is mainly driven by the CPU. Upgrading to an SSD will be my next step.
yea that cpu is getting old, so i wouldnt be surprised to see recent titles struggling to run well on it depends on your budget and pricing of the 3770 (or 4770/4790 maybe??) at where you're from also, welcome to the forums! remember to quote (with the arrow below the post) or mention ( @5x5 @BlueScope819 ) so people will see your reply edit: diff platform, i forgot @-@
I plan to check out the Ryzen next, thanks everyone! I watched the video Linus made about an i7 3770 in an Optiplex. Now I just have to locate a solid motherboard, CPU, and RAM. I already have the case and PSU. The @Moonzy i7 3770 costs $100 in Mexico.
