I was just hearing a podcast and they mentioned some interesting ideas. PUBG and Fortnite are currently very popular titles. PUBG isn’t usually praised for its visuals, and Fortnite features a cartoonish design. Are we at a stage where most players focus less on graphics and more on gameplay mechanics?

It doesn’t matter if a game uses 2D or 3D graphics, but I’m not interested in titles that resemble Minecraft. PUBG isn’t the most visually appealing option either.

Everyone has unique preferences. The term "average gamer" is too general. Many people enjoy these titles, including myself. I play PUBG but find its visuals unpleasant. Fortnite’s presentation really appeals to me more, yet I struggle to match its appeal to PUBG. These games gain popularity mainly because of their quality, not just the graphics. Still, the same group can value visuals in other titles heavily.

The settings really vary by game genre. I’d push maximum performance on sports titles, but keep graphics low for shooters like Quake or CS. Just because Fortnite feels simple doesn’t mean its visuals are poor.

I’d prefer “hip gamer” over average gamer. Hip gamers generally don’t focus on gameplay or graphics unless others are playing either. Hateme

Depends on the game and individual tastes. Personally, I enjoy playing from 2D to 3D, ranging from blocky to realistic, as long as it's enjoyable. I also appreciate games with artistic visuals, which is why I love titles like Okami.

Visuals must enhance the experience of playing and, in narrative-driven titles, the actions should reflect the story.

It really hinges on the specific game. Titles like PUBG or CS:GO focus heavily on teamwork, strategy, and skill, so visuals aren't as crucial since players prioritize high FPS. On the other hand, games such as GTA, The Forest, Forza, Assassin's Creed, Witcher demand strong graphics because smooth performance at 144Hz is essential for a good experience. These games tend to be more immersive and relaxing.

It seems like you're expressing surprise or admiration for the game's intensity.

Forza isn't a tough or realistic title, honestly. It feels calming to play, though maybe because I've spent too many hours on other action games.
