If you have any suggestions it would definitely assist me, since I'm using a phenomIIx4 955 that's almost outdated.
The compatible processors include: Sempron, Phenom II X3, Athlon II X2, Phenom II X2, Athlon II X4, Athlon II X3, Phenom II X4, and Phenom II X6. FX is not included in this range. https://www.cnet.com/products/asus-m4a88...-amd-880g/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMD_800_chipset_series
The brief impression I had from ASUS's German site was limited to Sempron, Athlon II and Phenom II processors. It wasn't a good deal. Even if it functioned, you'd likely damage the VRM with anything beyond an FX 43xx. To be clear, AM3+ chipsets only support AM3 and AM3+ CPUs, while AM3 supports Am2/2+ and AM3 CPUs. AM3+ includes an extra pin for FX CPUs—trying to modify it would probably ruin it.
Typically, most boards that accommodate FX chips feature a black socket instead of a white one, with the exception of the 760G chipsets. The M488T model does not accept FX processors.
Only because it matches a socket doesn't guarantee functionality. For example, LGA 1151
