No success with the brothers' PC.
Hey everyone, I'm reaching out for advice or ideas. My brother's PC won't power on at all. Family thought the power supply unit was the issue, but I didn't notice that. After swapping it out, things worked fine. Then I got a new motherboard, but nothing changed. The computer shows no signs of life—pressing power, resetting, even shorting the power switch doesn't help. The PSU is still supplying power. The old board had problems too; sometimes it would turn on but not display anything. Now I'm considering the CPU might be dead.
OS: Windows 10 64 MB
Current: MSI B75A-G43 MB (old): ASRock Z77 Pro4-M
CPU: Intel I5-3330
GPU: RX570
RAM: Various options, each 8GB
PSU: Different models available
Old PSU: Corsair Elite V3 600
New PSU: Zalman ZM700-LX II
Check which HDD or SSD is installed. You can clear all drives if needed. Your image file appears in an unusual format—please upload it as JPG or PNG. Confirm that the power button is connected properly. Note: You cannot short the power pins while the connector is attached. RAM is located in slots A2 and B2.
It appears to be an Apple device using HEIC format, but GIMP can open it and you can convert it to JPEG. I tried just to verify that. Regarding storage, there are three hard drives and possibly a solid-state drive above them. The power supply unit shown is a ZM700-LX. On the desk there are four RAM modules, two of which are FURY.
Sorry about the picture—it's an iPhone. Regarding the HDDs, I unplugged everything and didn't get any results. For the RAM, I swapped the slots but still couldn't proceed.
If the PC starts up without a display, the GPU might be faulty. Consider using the motherboard's video output instead. Since it's an older machine, you could attempt to remove the CPU and reattach it. Also, try taking out all the RAM one at a time to see which sticks work. If you have compatible RAM from another system, test those as well. I experienced an issue where a power surge disabled everything except the RAM, but the rest functioned normally. Good luck!
Begin by inserting RAM into slots 2 and 4. JFP1 handles the power and reset switch. Manual guidance available at the provided link.
Hey there! I messed up a bit, but thanks for your support. I connected the front panel connectors to the USB and it worked. Jesus would be proud!
