I purchased Tomb Raider 2013 during a Steam sale some time ago. Recently, I decided to launch it and test it out. At startup, I realized there was no sound. I assumed the menu might be muted and pressed "start new game." A cutscene began, but then audio returned. However, once the gameplay started, the sound disappeared again. After checking the files, I confirmed everything was intact. I performed a full reinstall, but the issue persisted. What could be causing this problem?

You need to restart the game or re-enable your sound card within the game menu.

Most people agree there’s an issue preventing your soundcard from working properly. This doesn’t account for the sound during cutscenes. Start by exploring the in-game menus to verify your audio settings. If that fails, ensure your device isn’t muted via Windows controls (like the mixer). Next, confirm your soundcard isn’t disabled—though this is rare. Re-download the latest drivers and try again. Also, test your headphones or switch to a USB headset if needed. It’s a great game, but it’s sad it doesn’t function as expected.

I reviewed all the steps you took and still couldn’t locate the issue. It might be related to your soundcard settings—check the device manager or system settings for any changes. Let me know if you need further guidance!

Click the volume control, then select Playback devices. It could also be sending signals through the incorrect device.
