I attempted to start my old PS4 today but didn’t see any display. Testing different cables didn’t help. It seems the device stopped working unexpectedly, and it’s outside warranty coverage. Sony is asking for £179 for a replacement console. The screen light is blue. Are there any steps I can take to fix it myself? I also can’t boot into safe mode because there’s no output at all.
It seems Sony was aware of the issue before. The PlayStation 4 Blue Light problem guide on IGN suggests that most solutions have already been tried and there isn’t much left to do.
I resolved the issue by switching to a different HDMI cable. The one from my Nintendo Switch initially didn’t work, but another random cable fixed it. It seems some HDMI cables might have compatibility requirements or could be intentionally incompatible with certain consoles.
The issue might stem from how the pins are arranged in the port or possibly a faulty cable. I've observed variations in pin counts across different cables, like a 4K cable that caused problems when switching to HDMI. What matters most is that it's now functioning correctly.
