I recently upgraded my PC's motherboard, CPU, and RAM, and everything functioned well until the PCIe wifi adapter (TP link Archer T5E) was installed. Once I connected it to a PCIe slot, my monitor stopped receiving any DisplayPort signal and the EZ debug LED lit up indicating a graphics card problem. Without the adapter, everything operated normally.

My GPU is located in the PCIe x16 slot, and I've tested every other PCIe slot for the adapter. When it's installed, the GPU fans spin, suggesting a power issue isn't the cause. Every time I've used the adapter, my PC would shut down and be unplugged. My GPU and adapter worked together perfectly in my previous build, confirming the adapter's functionality. I upgraded from an MSI B550 Gaming plus to an MSI Z790 Gaming Plus Wifi, as the built-in adapter previously suffered from weak signal. I attempted removing the GPU, keeping the adapter, and using onboard graphics via an HDMI cable into my mobo, but still got no signal. This strongly implies the new motherboard is attempting to run graphics through the adapter, but I haven't found any configuration—with or without the GPU—that allows it to work properly. I also tried lowering the PCIe 16 slot speed to Gen 1, but the problem persisted. I haven't managed to enter the BIOS with the adapter in to verify hardware/voltage settings due to the lack of video signal.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Did you fully reinstall Windows after switching from AMD to Intel baseline? Did you turn off the built-in wireless adapter in the motherboard's BIOS when using the TP Link adapter?

I didn't fully reinstall Windows, but I turned off the built-in wireless adapter. I'll give it another try! Thank you.

I just attempted to reinstall Windows again, but it didn't work. I verified that the onboard wireless adapter was turned off in BIOS too. I'm beginning to suspect a problem with the motherboard hardware settings.

Beyond turning off the in-car wireless, are the BIOS settings set to their standard configurations? When operating your on-board wireless, was the antenna connected? Additionally, are both the 8-pin and the 24-pin power connections securely fastened on the motherboard?

Did you add an external wifi antenna to the integrated wifi? Without it, the signal will be very weak or not present at all.

What BIOS version are you running on the board? Also, which Windows version do you have? I assume you reinstalled Windows from a USB drive rather than performing a full reset.

My BIOS was using the default settings, but I updated it too.
I didn’t have the antenna connected, which definitely improved my signal. I probably won’t need the adapter anymore!
Those are securely attached.
Thanks again!

I upgraded the BIOS to the latest stable release.
I restored Windows from a clean installation!

Haha, I didn't attach this antenna. It really boosted my signal. I won't need that adapter anymore. Thanks a lot!
