I recently installed my new B550 Vision D-Pin, but when I tried to turn it on, nothing appeared except the number 00. I reset the BIOS and cleared the CMOS, but there’s still no display. I’ve removed RAM and memory too, yet the issue persists. Could you help?
Are you certain it refers to 00 and not D0? 00 isn't listed among the codes in the manual. The display would show a D as 0 because it uses numerical values. If it shows D0/00, it indicates a CPU Initialization Error. Does your BIOS recognize the CPU while you're in BIOS mode? If you encounter D0/00, attempt to remove and reposition the CPU, then test again. There might also be a power issue contributing to this problem. It might not be listed in the manual, but on most motherboards the "00" code means no CPU detected. Likely causes include: 1) BIOS needs updating, 2) Power connector isn't fully removed (especially if your power supply is modular), 3) CPU isn't properly placed, or 4) Motherboard or CPU is faulty.
Because of how that small screen uses numbers similar to a digital clock and letters like a calculator, it can only show the letter D as a zero. 00 makes sense since a capital D would need a 0 to form its shape. The D0 issue is actually the same as what you mentioned about 00.
Have you tried those boards? The lowercase form is what they display. Likewise for B
I haven't noticed any of my boards, or those I've repaired for others, showing lowercase characters. All the letters I've seen are in uppercase. None of the guides for the three boards I own list "00" as an error code either—D0 appears in all of them. I believe B is typically shown as an 8, which explains why there’s a 2B but not a 28, a B1 but not an 81, and a 3B but not a 38 in the manual error codes. Some users might actually support lowercase letters, though I haven’t noticed that before during my time with computers—this is why my reasoning formed.
The guides typically display the main version of the letter, except for ASRock boards which I've noticed. Right after startup it checks and presents it in this format for D0: _ _| | | |_| |_| Each board I own uses lowercase letters for B and D, which makes sense since changing them would cause confusion. Using uppercase would just be an 8 or a 0, reducing the number of codes you can show for POST codes from 256 to 196. It might mean D0 and 00 are treated similarly during troubleshooting, but they actually mean different things. 00 indicates the CPU isn't detected, while D0 means the CPU is recognized but not usable.
