Hey everyone, just started here and I’m still getting used to the setup. I got an upgrade kit with a new motherboard, Ryzen 5 7500f, and a 16GB DDR5 RAM stick. The main goal was to replace my old board that failed, so I didn’t want to settle for a used one. Installation went smoothly, but something odd happened with the VGA LED when I connected my RTX 2060. Fans were spinning while everything else worked. My GT 1030 also booted fine. But once I entered BIOS after connecting the GPU, the screen froze and then stopped loading Windows. I didn’t see any strange patterns on the display, just a white LED flashing before it died again. I tried reseating components, clearing BIOS settings with CMOS, but nothing seems to help. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Occasionally it fails. Remove the CMOS battery and let it sit for a short time. Then reinsert it and test once more. Does the screen lose its signal? I faced a problem recently where I could view BIOS, bootloader, and enter safe mode, but the display wouldn’t show anything when switching to Windows. With my triple-monitor setup, all screens had signals yet displayed only black. When moving the mouse, a busy cursor appeared. I used DDU to clear the old driver in safe mode, then reinstalled it. After that, the black screen returned. I could log out with Ctrl+Alt+Delete and see the sign-in screen, which brought me back to my desktop. No longer experiencing this issue.
It's odd how sometimes I also face that black screen issue. If the POST succeeds (most of the time thanks to the VGA Ez Debug LED), then the signal drops completely—screen just turns off and resets to idle. Can't reach BIOS without using a second GPU. Surprisingly strange since I’m sure my 2060 is fine!
