The Ryzen 3k performs optimally when using dual-channel at 3600MHz. With the current RAM setup, there seems to be no reason to avoid it.

Many Ryzens problems stemmed from bios issues. As an early adopter of the first generation, I wouldn’t suggest it to anyone beyond fans. My stability was inconsistent, especially with RAM. Keep in mind the significant architecture shift AMD introduced, and the challenges vendors faced when supporting both platforms together. After upgrading to an X470 motherboard and updating the bios with my R7 1700, all issues disappeared. Now I use an R7 3800x on the same X470 board, and stability has remained solid for nearly two years. Even after previously overclocking CPU and RAM, I’ve kept my CPU stock and boosted my RAM to 3400MHz (3200MHz kit) with optimized timings. You no longer need to check your motherboard’s QVL list for compatible RAM. For dual-channel kits (2x8 or 2x16GB) at 3200MHz or faster, it’s a good choice. A mix and match works, but performance may vary beyond 2666MHz—upgrades will still function well.
