Good afternoon, I’ve assembled several PCs in the past few years, but this one has been particularly challenging. I ordered a new Intel system built for gaming and heavy use, with these details: -Gigabyte Z790 UD AC, LGA 1700 DDR5 -Intel i7-12700kf -MSI 3060ti -32 GB DDR5 RAM, -1200 watt EVGA PSU -ASUS 240mm AIO -MSI 2tb M.2 SSD now. Despite my efforts, I can’t get it to start. I’ve done: - changing power cables - swapping PSUs (three attempts) - rebuilding the whole setup three times - using a known working GPU (verified elsewhere) - tried a MSI Z690 board, but it doesn’t draw power - switched to a DDR4 board, changed RAM slots - tested all RAM slots, even knowing A2 is correct - removed SSD and booted bareboard - took out the AIO for better airflow. It’s strange that on the Z790 board, power comes through (RAM lights up, AIO works) but fans stay still, GPU fans don’t spin, etc. I’m unsure what to do next. My only thought is that my Intel CPU might have failed. This order came from a third-party seller in China and took weeks to arrive. Please help! I’ve been trying for 10 days now. Good luck!

if from third party newegg seller in China there’s a good chance it’s a fake CPU that might not be supported by your BIOS, for a bit selling rebadged Pentiums as 12700K/12900k was popular but idk if it is anymore, also it coulda been destroyed by the delidding process they use to fake the CPUs by swapping the IHS

Jesus, that makes sense. I’m not sure how they managed it on Newegg. I plan to buy a new CPU tonight to check. It’s worth mentioning it wasn’t a $100 purchase—I got one for $5 under Newegg and it was supposed to arrive around the same time as the rest. But it actually took about 10 days longer than expected.
