I’m feeling a bit puzzled here in Australia. When I look for the latest 1150 boards, they only show one 2-slot model, even though some seem fine. I’m trying to decide which one to pick. I use an MSI Z97 PC with an MATE 1070 G1, 8GB RAM and an i7 processor. I’m not planning to overclock, but I want to make sure it’s a good value. I’m considering the ASUS Z87-C and Z87-K, but they’re around $100 and I’m not sure if they’re worth it. There are other options, but I don’t need the MSI board since my current one is getting older. It has bent CPU pins, but it still works after a year. I’ve noticed games slow down, especially CS:GO and CSSS, and I’ve tested it on my friend’s system with a G2200 and 1070. His board has more slots, but the RAM is fine. Here are some options under $100:
- ASUS Z87-C
- ASUS Z87-K
I’m thinking about the 100$ ASUS Z87-C and the 105$ ASUS B-85-A-R2.0
- ROG MAXIMUS VI Z87 (around 199$)
- ASUS Z97-P (around 199$)
I’m leaning toward the Z87 series, hoping it’s a solid choice. I just need more RAM slots and a bit of extra performance. The cost of parts in Australia is really high, especially with new GPUs like the 3090.
