Got a used CPU/Mobo/RAM/PSU combo today for a friend. The ROG logo lights up when I switch the PSU, but nothing happens when I connect the power pins on the mobo. No fans, no post. I hear an audible wince from the PSU, so bridging the pins seems to be working. I've tried changing PSUs, swapping RAM, reseating the CPU, resetting CMOS, and even removing GPUs. Any advice? It's a Ryzen 5 3600 with decent specs—Skill Ram, Strix B450-F gaming, and a gold-rated 650W Corsair PSU.

650W isn't suitable for modern setups at all. If it wasn't in use, it could work for post-testing, but it belongs to the same used package, so it's not dependable. Until a new power supply arrives, you can't be sure of its condition. Also, I don’t see any lights on the MB either?

psu definitely isn't the problem if you've tried alternatives, as long as the gpu isn't extremely high-end it shouldn't block posting. I use a 400W gold psu for testing and everything works fine with it—6800s, 3080s, etc. If you change parts but get the same results, it’s likely the board or another component is the issue. Though I’m inclined to think about the board first, any guesses would be helpful. The best way to confirm would be testing on a different board and another board for the chip.
