Hey everyone, I've been experiencing really slow internet speeds lately. Speedtest.net shows a steady 150 Mbps download, but I'm paying $600 for it. I'm using a CAT6 cable and my PC is only six months old. After talking to Shaw, they said it might be a hardware issue with my PC, which I dismiss as nonsense. They suggested it could be my router, but I don’t use one—I just connect directly to the modem. The Shaw link I received shows a BlueCurrent model. Any suggestions on what to do? Switching providers isn't an option since they all perform poorly in my area. My setup includes an MSI B450M Bazooka V2 with a Ryzen 3600.

The infrastructure is really bad almost everywhere. It seems to be getting worse lately, and most people are staying home, so traffic peaks all the time.

You suspect they’re intentionally slowing down your internet connection. It’s really frustrating when you can’t even reach 75% of what you pay for, and downloading something like Apex Legends takes over an hour. This feels like a classic 90s issue!

Does your network display a 1 gigabit link with the router?
