Having played for a long time and enjoyed managing players, I find it sad that the game is no longer receiving updates. Many think this marks its final chapter. But is it really? There’s a clear list of what should remain, and we don’t have to start over after each change. How do you see this changing the community? Should version 3.6 still be used in tournaments, or is it better to stick with All Stars?

Nintendo has been encouraging players to skip Project M after the launch of Smash 4. This suggests Project M might not be as common in major events anymore. Previously, tournaments featured both Melee and Smash 4, but now they mostly focus on Melee and Smash 4. The line between what counts as a major title is blurry. It seems unlikely there will be any official updates that everyone recognizes. Therefore, it’s unlikely anyone will complete Knuckles, Isaac, and another character.

It's a modification for the Wii version of "Super Smash Bros. Brawl" that speeds up gameplay and reduces reliance on chance, making it closer to "Super Smash Bros. Melee." Recently, the developer announced they're halting development and no download is available now (though some mirror sites exist). This change seems tied to potential legal issues from Nintendo, as the site lists a contact email directed to a lawyer.

Major streamers removing content from tournament reports also highlights Sm4sh and Nintendo's approach to streaming games. Their handling of mods, like the speedrunner issue, reflects their broader policies.

Eventually perhaps. In the immediate term, no—it drew significant attention when they halted the development, which brought more people to learn about it.

Project M is thriving and 3.6 will remain the primary version moving forward. The local scene continues to back the game, even with reduced online presence through streams and similar platforms. Still, Smashers keep playing and enjoying it, and it won’t fade away anytime soon. The PM broadcasts are now mainly hosted on hitbox.tv, and we hope Nintendo won’t interfere. A positive aspect is that since the game won’t receive more patches, a solid meta can now be built.

From the project's official website, I believe the game has been shut down, though it was a solid mod.

Progress has stopped, yet the mod remains accessible and is still popular—essentially it functions as a full game now, with no more updates. This mirrors the situation for regular games as well.
