People don't seem to understand why I'm blocking these services. It looks like the issue might appear during a Windows update, but currently everything remains functional. I'm still experiencing high pings—over 500 per day—to various servers, yet nothing has stopped working. My email, word, Excel, and Windows are all operating smoothly. I'm just holding them in place until the problem resolves. It's surprising how many connections are being made daily.
There are several weather services using addresses. Some support edge/start tiles while others are for location features. For Microsoft updates, the necessary domains include:
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
http://*.windowsupdate.microsoft.com
https://*.windowsupdate.microsoft.com
https://*.update.microsoft.com
https://*.update.microsoft.com
https://*.windowsupdate.com
http://download.windowsupdate.com
http://download.microsoft.com
http://*.download.windowsupdate.com
http://test.stats.update.microsoft.com
http://ntservicepack.microsoft.com
You can restrict all other domains and Windows Update will continue functioning.
The "metered connection" feature is intended to reduce telemetry data transmission.
