Setting up a Ryzen 7700X on a B650 MSI Tomahawk with an RTX 3070 and a Corsair Vengeance 2x16GB RAM is challenging. After booting, the system loads automatically with the XMP profile, but it keeps freezing when you restart. I've adjusted the RAM speed to both 5200MHz and 4800MHz during startup, yet the issue persists. I left the machine running for more than 15 minutes to check for memory training problems, but nothing has changed. What could help?

Can you access the BIOS and make updates? If there’s any lag, I’d avoid doing it.

Did you receive RAM on that QVL list? That’s usually the problem since XMP is Intel and EXPO is AMD, which often don’t match up. XMP settings usually perform well with Intel but struggle on AMD, making it risky to rely on them. Some users manage to get it working, while most don’t. They’re a bit different, so choosing the optimal RAM for your board based on the QVL list is ideal. https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MAG-B650...upport#mem If you discover that RAM still doesn’t function after purchase, you might need to return it and deal with a hassle.

Configure memory training by enabling XMP Ram speed only within the CPU's limits. Adjust NB (north bridge) and all RAM timings to AUTO, ensuring they remain Auto settings. Save the changes and restart the system. Disregard any CAS/CL values detected, as they might not match the actual timings on your RAM stick—it won’t affect performance if XMP is applied correctly.

I successfully achieved a stable boot. I performed a hard reset of the UEFI and completely disabled the RAM profile. I plan to adjust it manually at this stage, but my main goal is to get it up and running.

In short, others have mentioned that RAM can be crucial for your system. Before purchasing, check the chipset compatibility—like Corsair lists supported chipsets and guarantees. If it’s XMP certified, it works well with Intel; for AMD, EXPO certification is better. This helps avoid surprises and ensures proper function.
