Hello! I'm interested in visual-novel games such as Life is Strange and Telltale's Game of Thrones, and 'Tales from the Borderlands' offers an engaging sci-fi setting. I'm a bit unsure since it seems to be part of a bigger series, so I wanted to know if prior knowledge of earlier titles is needed or if I can follow the story without playing them first. Thanks, Aereldor.

No, that's not correct. If I persuade you to take the peasant path, the first episode is available to XB1 and X360 subscribers.

I’ll recount the story in a new way: A loud sequence unfolds as I take on Jason Voorhees, aiming to eliminate 1,000 of him, while searching for a mysterious final challenge.

I need to purchase an Xbox for this, which seems illogical since the whole series costs only $8 on Steam.

I hope it wasn't part of the storyline for 'Tales from the Borderlands.' If it was, congratulations on not spoiling it. For earlier works, thanks for the details.

It was the storyline for Borderlands 1Big Grin. The Borderland titles aren't particularly challenging in terms of plot, more so in the action-packed gameplay. The unique characters make it easier to adapt if you haven't played before.

Directly from the narrative, no. However, considering the broader context, some details may be omitted, but you'll still get the experience as intended.

It could be a strong starting point for the Borderlands universe. Just like The Witcher 3 fits naturally within the Witcher series, and Gundam Wing aligns with Gundam’s lore, this setting seems well-placed.

It's unclear if this game is truly connected to the borderlands universe, as it feels more like a standalone story-driven point-and-click experience. Witcher 3 didn't really serve as a smooth transition from Witcher 1 or 2, making it a less fitting introduction to the series. In fact, some might argue it could be a weak start for the franchise.

From the experience I observed, it's a solid move. If it persuades you to try the original titles, you can safely bypass the first one.
