No power to pc
SPECS
Motherboard : GA-Z170XP-SLI
Intel I7 6700k LPG 1151
Gpu: GTX 970
Windows 10 Home
This PC belongs to my daughter. It was functioning the previous night, but after use it shut down completely. No power was detected, tried various cables, and replaced the original power supply with a new 750W unit. Connected the new PSU according to the specifications on the cable for the CPU and GPU.
Could this be due to something other than a motherboard issue?
Thanks in advance

Does it imply that no activity occurs when the power switch is activated? Are all LEDs not lit and no fans operating?
If you take out the MB from the case to test, can you run without the CPU fan since there’s no CPU fan anymore? Also, could it be the CPU itself if memory isn’t an issue? Thanks, Dean.
If I take the MB out to test, can I run without the CPU fan since it currently lacks a fan and has a radiator?
Remove radiator along with MB/PSU.
Q : could it be the CPU if memory is fine?
When diagnosing, you give a chance to each possible reason. The top three are MB, then RAM, then CPU. Priority follows in that sequence.
If an i7 was being passively cooled, thermal issues might be the cause and should have higher chance. Was the CPU operating at the motherboard's default power limits?
When considering a replacement, you rank by cost: MB is likely the cheapest, followed by RAM, then CPU. Replacement priority matches this order.
verified both memory slots in slot 2 of the motherboard still lack power, took out the heat sink from the CPU and the thermal paste remained tacky but appeared crusty near the edges. However, after cleaning with some isopropyl alcohol, it looked fine.
I’ll receive another MB tomorrow as it’s expected to be either the memory or the CPU.
Thanks
Dean
Especially in this case, the 6700 won’t work with Windows 11. You could, for instance, invest about 70 dollars in a Ryzen 3600, and maybe 100 or a bit less on a motherboard, which would give you a nearly complete system supporting Windows 11 while still allowing you to use the Ryzen 5000 series.
