Hello, this is your first time sharing your experience. My PC stopped working suddenly a few days back due to overheating while gaming. Because of poor airflow from dust, I waited about an hour before cleaning inside. I cleaned everything thoroughly and replaced the thermal paste on both the GPU and CPU. After that, I reinserted all components carefully. Since my case is compact, I had to take RAM sticks out to give myself space for installing the CPU cooler nut. I didn’t tighten them too much because I faced issues before related to board bending. I put all four RAM sticks back in properly, ensuring they clicked correctly. After turning it on, the Red DRAM lights came on steadily without any blinking. I pressed the MemOk! button several times and still didn’t see a post. Here’s what I’ve noticed so far: All four RAM sticks are functioning well. The PC operated normally with all four DIMM slots filled. The closest ones (A1, A2) worked, while the farther ones (B1, B2) showed the red LED. When I booted with just A1 and A2 installed, Windows loaded and Task Manager displayed the correct memory count. This worked whether I left all slots populated or removed the GPU. No issues with bent pins, reinsertion, or dust inside the CPU socket—even after reseating. The system started up using two RAM sticks, and I didn’t notice any problems with the PSU or power supply. It was running at around 480W during peak usage, which matches what the calculators said. My motherboard is old, so I’m not eligible for a return warranty.

I’ve tried everything I could—checking each RAM slot individually, testing both working and non-working slots, even swapping out connectors and reseating the CPU. Nothing changed. I also looked into power requirements and confirmed the PSU was adequate. The only thing that helped was using a 16GB instead of 32GB RAM, though dual-channel performance would be better.

I’m open to any suggestions or alternative solutions you might have. Thanks for your help!

It seems the problem might be linked to the CPU itself. Each channel connects directly to the CPU. I also replaced my Z77 3570K because it had the same issue. Changing the CPU socket and swapping the CPU didn’t fix it. Once, when it happened occasionally, I managed to resolve it by re-seating the CPU and applying less force while installing the cooler. Eventually it stopped working completely. Best of luck!
