I also played Witcher 3 without playing the first or second installment. I think the game provides enough context through TW3 to understand what’s going on. The unique aspect of the series is that each title feels distinct from the others. Just because I enjoy TW3 doesn’t guarantee a similar experience with 1 or 2. I own all three games, but even after many attempts, I still find it hard to stay engaged and often give up.

I tried W3 initially and grasped it easily. But I think some of the books would be more beneficial than the earlier games. You can revisit them anytime if you wish.
