It's quite bothersome when selecting text copies it goes to the clipboard. Would you like to know if there are options to manage multiple clipboards? Updated January 4 by Nord1ing debian->Mint debian edition
Select text refers to choosing specific parts of a document or content. What operating system are you using?
I personally rely on wl-copy for Arch, and it functions correctly. If you have used a different clipboard service, I suggest switching to wl-copy. Since I'm not very experienced with Debian, I'm unsure about the installation process, but it seems to work well.
I didn't set up any additional components, just used the standard setup.
Oh, that's odd. Apparently there is no real pre installed Debian specific clipboard manager, just the X11 or Wayland default. I would try to just install wl-copy or some clipboard manager, and hopefully it will fix itself, I've also never encountered the multiple clipboards issue. I would hope that installing a manager might fix that. I'm sorry if this isn't helpful, I don't know much about Debian. Also, by select, do you just mean highlight? Hope this helps
What desktop setup are you using? Vanilla Debian Gnome lacks this feature unless you install a program or a Gnome Shell extension that provides it. In KDE, there is an integrated clipboard manager for Plasma Shell with an option to automatically copy highlighted text to the clipboard. To turn it off, right-click the clipboard system tray icon, select Configure, then General tab, and uncheck "Selection and Clipboard."
