I'm setting up a budget-friendly desktop for my son. Right now he has the Gigabyte A520m S2h with 3600 and 16GB RAM. I started with an old HD7750 but it was causing issues. I replaced it with an RX580 8GB and still couldn't see anything on any output. The board only has one PCIe 3.0 x16 slot, so I can't swap it out. When I tried the card in my old desktop, it worked perfectly, but even after unplugging the RX6700, it stayed in another slot. Nothing was spinning, and the card's output showed normal readings for stability. I used a Corsair TX650M PSU as a test source, and the blue light indicated power was stable. Any ideas? Could be a faulty board, PSU, graphics card, or just an unusual combination.
In short, HD7750 functions properly on new builds while RX580 fails (no display, monitor in standby, DP/HDMI supported). Another motherboard version of RX580 appears to work too.
Have you attempted to reset the CMOS memory? It’s possible the motherboard still recognizes the HD7750 and attempts to utilize it despite the RX580 replacement. If this doesn’t resolve the issue, verify if an updated BIOS version is available—new BIOS releases often resolve compatibility problems. Additionally, are you installing a brand-new Windows version? A clean install is advisable whenever major hardware changes occur, such as switching from HS7750 to RX580. Since all components functioned independently, it’s unlikely a single part is defective. After the setup a few days ago and all updates done, the BIOS was reset once more just to verify. It was updated to F12 when I received the board, since the CPU wasn't recognized at first.
I experienced a similar problem too. My PC was running normally until one day it stopped booting and showed only a black screen. It worked fine in another room. I brought it back, and it functioned properly there too. I believe everything was correctly connected initially. Sometimes components just refuse to cooperate. I recommend testing different cables and possibly swapping out the PSU to rule out that possibility. Sometimes these small things fix everything. Good luck!
