I recently assembled my first PC and when it powered up, today it didn’t turn on at all. I tried using a pen drive and without one, changed cables and inputs. I even used the built-in CPU graphics, but nothing worked. Eventually it turned on and entered BIOS, so I accidentally shut it off, and now it’s not showing again. I’m confused about what to do next.

Usually inconsistent power comes from loose cables or parts not fully connected. I’d re-seat the 24-pin connector (the main one linking to the motherboard) and the EPS connector (the 4 or 8-pin near the CPU that supplies power). Either of these being misaligned can stop the system from turning on. It might also relate to the power button connectors—those small pins at the bottom that are tricky to handle. If you have a well-designed case, you could try pushing those in firmly as well.

What are the specifications for your motherboard and graphics card? If you're using a GPU, it will turn off the built-in HDMI display. For testing, remove the GPU. When the PC starts, listen for the boot sound. See if the manufacturer's splash screen appears. Press DEL repeatedly to enter BIOS. If it boots successfully and shows the splash, use F12 to change the boot order on the USB installer. Make sure all cables are connected properly; missing RAM or GPU connections can prevent POST and the splash from appearing.

The system runs on an AMD Ryzen 9 7900X with an ASUS ROG Strix B650-A motherboard. It uses DisplayPort, but nothing appears on the screen despite connections.

Additionally, check the motherboard debug diagnostic lights such as CPU, RAM, and VGA to identify the issue.

It functioned properly but suddenly ceased to work; I'm still planning to continue reading.

Reinstall the GPU and its power cables. For a modular PSU, also reinstall the GPU power there. If you wish to restore BIOS with built-in video, perform a BIOS reset. Refer to your motherboard manual for instructions.
