No output after build, LED flashes between DRAM and CPU
I began assembling my new PC today once the RAM arrived. After putting it together, I powered it on and noticed the lights in the RAM slots activated, along with the CPU and D-Bus LED flashing in an alternating sequence for a brief moment. I experimented with only one module from Corsair RAM, using all four dimming switches from my HP BTO memory. I tried just one dimming setting for BTO RAM, then reset the CMOS, repositioned the CPU and cooler, and checked the hardware. The system ran with a Ryzen 5 3600, 32GB (4x8) Corsair Vengeance 3200MHz RGB Pro SL DDR4, paired with a 32GB (4x8) BTO PC4 2400 8GB 2Rx8-CA4-44 from Gigabyte B450 Aorus M (version 1.1), which worked fine on a 600-watt PSU without an SSD or HDD. The GT1030 2GB RAM was also compatible.
Test the power supply connectors. Verify all links are secure and nothing was misplaced. For a complete modular PSU, inspect the connector on the power supply side of the cables.
It seems the RAM is failing to support higher speeds, possibly due to a processor limitation. For your loop, there could be a physical issue like metal contacting the CPU backplate. Consider buying a budget 10-dollar cooler from Newegg that matches your CPU and test it. If the problem persists, returning it might be the best option.
I found out through some research that your motherboard is already compatible with the second generation Ryzen 2 processors, but it needs an update to work with the newer 3xxx CPUs. Since I don’t have one and don’t want to spend money on a new board, I’m planning to buy something that comes pre-installed for my CPU. The MSI Mag B550 Tomahawk looks good on the support page—it seems it supports the 3600 out of the box. I’ll keep my Gigabyte board just in case. It’s all about realizing I made a mistake.
