I'm unsure if anyone genuinely plays WoW in 4K or if it's a worthwhile or financially viable project. It seems a bit illogical, but I wouldn't want to invest in an RTX card if it doesn't add value. "What else" will I do with the machine I end up having...? I'm probably just browsing YouTube and doing web searches, but the main reason here is about playing WoW in high definition. I'd love to be excited about other games to justify spending a lot on a PC with such diverse needs, but I can't. My current setup is already listed in my profile, and a single-CCD X3D CPU will be included in the upgrade. Mods – I know I've veered off topic, but I'm really focused on gathering info and accept that as part of the job. Thanks in advance!

Beyond jokes, is World of Warcraft really that tough to run at 4K60? How efficiently does it perform on your setup? Which components are being used most?

I enjoy all games except WoW, but I love high-quality 4K visuals. If you have a powerful PC with 4K support, why not?

It's been 17 years and I'm still enjoying it... but nothing much has changed. Interestingly, yes—so much has shifted. I'm using a 5800X and an RX6800 to achieve 1440p with smooth frames. I originally upgraded from 1080p, but accidentally got a 4K monitor by mistake and my old $1950 TV. That was replaced with a Vega56, which caused quite a stir; I had to work hard to afford a 1440p screen. So, it was a costly decision I don’t want to repeat soon. My main issue is that most players who watch 4K content aren’t really into it—I can’t even play three of the AC games I bought a while back, even in 1440p. Exactly... I handle it at 4K with maximum settings. I own a 7900XTX, it works just fine—dynamic movement is okay when there are many players. The toughest moment was a 40v40 PvP battle in BG, wow, how the FPS held steady around 20 fps on the 7800X3D. That’s an old engine, but it’s pushing through.

Choose the most affordable GPU and ensure it runs 4K at 60FPS in WoW. This game doesn't support any RTX enhancements, so consider AMD or Intel options.

It offers minimal RT capabilities, but I don’t mind that. Probably planning to switch to a 9800X3D and similar models.

I'm preparing this as the starting point for a fresh installation... part of it matches what I already have; a 4K display is definitely required. NOTE: WD drive for Windows, boot P5+ drive for games, 990 Pro for large storage instead of Barracuda Compute 2TB. I'm also thinking about XTX Nitro+ if it could boost performance for 4K.
