Preparing for this process, make sure you understand the steps and safety tips. Watch the videos carefully—some people take a long time turning the dial. For your 8700k, heating the CPU is recommended to prevent glue from sticking. Ask others who have used this method for advice, especially regarding handling and timing.

It performed reliably at 7600K and 8700K temperatures. You could likely find a better price on eBay—I purchased mine for just $5. Just insert the CPU into the slot, align the IHS with the block, and begin running. I tested it on a C2D as well; even though it wasn’t officially compatible, it still functioned properly. Since then, I’ve used it to test various other Intel CPUs for display purposes.

I used a knife to cut the adhesive, and the plate detached easily. Expense = $0

Be mindful when using the razor technique; avoid letting too much metal show, or you might crack the die. This advice comes without personal experience, as I had to list a 6600K for very little profit.))())

Rule: Opt for more affordable options. Steer clear of inexpensive Chinese delid kits. Many users report these causing CPU damage. If it risks your CPU, choose products with solid warranties—like the Rockit or der8auer kits. While 3D printing is feasible, I recommend focusing on direct die brackets rather than delidders.

The tool features an arrow for alignment, matching the one on the CPU. It helps ensure proper positioning by focusing on the IHS rather than the PCB.
