We just ordered a new PC but the CPU is still missing. We attempted to boot without it and checked if any lights would activate, but nothing happened. This seems unusual—my Ryzen 5800 and his 7700k both had LEDs working. On the new 7000 series B650 board, none of them lit up at all. My ASUS B650M-A II was the one we were using.
I've never encountered a setup that attempts to start without a CPU. Most motherboards won't function unless the processor is present, after which it will POST and either launch normally or identify an issue.
Varies by setup; certain units can perform simple command reads, others attempt to supply power, while most remain inactive.
