Smaller displays under 21 inches aren't suitable. Anything below 1080p at that resolution may pose health risks.

He's been using 900p since 2009 but is set to get a 1080p model soon thanks to holiday offers. I'm currently on 1080p and have a 1440p screen ready for him. (Parents are keeping it away from me until the 25th)
I experience the game on a 1600x900 screen at home, but otherwise it runs smoothly at 5760x1080p everywhere.
