They provide affordable plans through third parties with solid performance. Their server options are diverse, and I’m generally satisfied with the free plan. I require a VPN for overseas use since I travel frequently—needing one that lets me connect to my PayPal account and other services on public or hotel networks. The main concern is whether Windscribe is reliable. Although many warn against free VPNs, they have positive reviews and offer a 3-year pro subscription for just $24, which feels surprisingly affordable yet raises some questions.

You pay more for fewer features like logging, torrent support, port forwarding, etc., so it seems you're likely okay with something that doesn't guarantee those. For my part, I favor using a VPN directly with my NAS at home to stay informed about what I'm getting. The upload speed on your home broadband might be sufficient or not depending on the situation.

Well, it's often said that if something sounds too perfect, it might not be. In this situation, I haven't encountered any negative reports about Windscribe. However, I wouldn't recommend it due to its Canadian origin within the Five Eyes region. Personally, I prefer NordVPN, which offers solid performance and flexibility—being based in Panama keeps it outside the 14 eyes. While the Linux version looks nice, it supports up to six devices or can be routed through your own setup. You might also find helpful guides there. Good luck!
