since i manage servers and keep my pc running around the clock, stability is key. many problems pop up after upgrading, which is why a complete clean install after the w10 upgrade is often advised. windows 7 differs significantly from windows 8/81, and tools like after effects, sony vegas, and photoshop may not function properly or at all.

I disliked version 8.1 and the free trial I received so much that I ended up purchasing a Win 7 HP key.

Operating smoothly on 8.1 across three machines, seven on a netbook and XP on many systems! I'm holding off on upgrading to 10 until the new year—sounds familiar, right? I mentioned planning to switch on October 1st, but I didn't want to rush it.

Didn't discover a solid reason to switch from W8.1 to 10. I prefer the earlier version. I often stumble upon issues that others overlook, even when following the same steps. Usually, the fixes are outdated threads with solutions that no longer apply. That's why I've stopped searching for problems.

More users adopting Windows 10 would speed up bug reporting significantly.

As soon as the free upgrade suggestion was dropped, I decided to wait six months for the early issues to be resolved. Most of my friends agreed with this plan. After four months, I was the only one still without an upgrade. I’ve noticed some machines shutting down unexpectedly, and Microsoft’s stricter push to move to W10 is making me hesitant.

I haven't upgraded since Windows 7 works well for me. Changing it isn't necessary when there are no DirectX 12 titles available. I'll switch to version 10 once games that support DX12 become available.

Sure, I understand. Let's keep it casual.
Yeah, but I don't want to be a beta tester.

Windows 10 caused problems on my desktop, so I switched back to Windows 7. It looks much nicer that way.

Updated after turning on Windows 7. Frustrated by the "Activate Windows" overlay.
