I received a software update notification about the Sonoma upgrade, and while I wouldn’t install it right away on my daily MacBook Pro due to existing Parallels setups and other applications, I might try it out in Studio just to see how it works. I’m not someone who jumps into upgrades on the first try, but I haven’t heard anything alarming from beta users.
I updated my M1 Max Mac Studio and M1 Macbook Air on day one. Everything appears to be working well. I manage to run parallel and multipass for virtual machines. There was an issue where one of my multipass VMs failed to boot after the upgrade, but since I create or delete these via scripts, I simply removed and rebuilt it without investigating further. I haven’t really tested the Safari features much yet—Firefox 118 now includes local translation (https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/11...easenotes/), which has convinced me to try it again. The rest looks fine overall. If you have a great monitor, you’ll appreciate those screen savers; they’re surprisingly effective.
I’m using a 27” LED Cinema Display, which is quite good. The screensavers are actually interesting—I’m showing the Utah landscape with all the red rock. I haven’t pushed the update to my Touch Bar M2 MBP yet, but I did go ahead with Studio. So far it seems to be working well; I haven’t gone too deep into it, but the update went smoothly at least.
