Hi, I'm checking if anyone has installed the Xeon E3-1280 v2 in the HP Elite 6300 Pro SFF. From what I know, both sockets are identical (LGA1155) and should work together. Let me know if you need more details!

The problem isn't necessarily about the socket matching. It would relate more to whether the BIOS has the microcode for the CPU. A quick check suggests it's not officially supported, though some older BIOS versions might allow it. It's essentially an uncertain situation—risky to proceed.

Hi, thanks! I saw an Intel Xeon E3-1220 v2 (4 cores, 4 threads) on eBay for about £23 (around $25). Someone else tested the CPU too—I’ll buy it. Appreciate the help!
