It should work fine. If the 13700k matches the same price and you return your mobo and cpu, I’d receive the 13700k since it’s nearly identical to the 7800x3d for Blender—about a 4-minute difference.

They're both solid options, but a 13,700K clock sounds similar to a 16-core setup. If you're paying the same price for both systems, choosing Intel might be better since it tends to be more reliable.

Thanks everyone. The pricing looks similar across options. If I go with 13700k, staying with DDR4 might still be a good choice. For AMD builds, the 7800x3d Gigabyte B650m DS3H 4070 Ti or 4080 offers 32GB DDR5 at 6000Mhz and is Expo certified. Switching to Intel would mean either 13700K or 13700KF Z690 DDR4 with ASUS Strix Wi-Fi for about 325$. The 4070 Ti or 4080 would be comparable in cost depending on your area.

The 7800x3d offers strong performance and handles tasks well. When using davinci resolve, the GPU will be utilized significantly more compared to software like premiere. Still, it remains a solid CPU choice for editing. The GPU mainly manages recording, while editing relies on the main processor. The 13700k is indeed faster, but neither will disappoint you.

These options look promising. If you choose AMD, consider a solid B650 board such as the Gigabyte B650M AORUS ELITE AX Micro ATX AM5. Make sure to verify availability in your region.

With the ds3h make sure it has decent airflow. It's a lower end b650 board and does get a bit toasty with vrms but is totally fine when there is airflow over it. What is your case? Update bios before using expo as gigabyte is one of the manufacturers with a bugged bios causing x3d cpu issues that can result in broken cpu's. It is patched in the latest bios. That or don't use expo. As for gpu get the 4080 if you can or a 7900 xt. That board skip. Thats FAR too much for a board. Keep in mind 600 series need a bios update without a cpu to work with 13th gen and not all asus z690 boards do this. Also don't overspend on a z series board because you aren't ocing a 13700k that thing is running at max speed already and ocing makes it a small sun.

If your main goal was just to play games, I’d definitely go for the 7800X3D. But since you’ll also be capturing gameplay and doing video editing, I can’t help but suggest the 13700K. The extra CPU cores really make a big difference. I’ve faced a similar choice before—I’m weighing the same options as you. I plan to follow your path but also include emulation for old consoles and virtual machines. The 7800X3D gives your motherboard support for five years, while the 13700K only works with its own generation. In the end, I think either choice is fine because eight cores are still impressive.

It's a place where I'm torn between two options—both seeming fair in price and offering similar results. I try to stay confident with the 7800x3d and also consider the 13700k option. I don't want to come across as overly persuasive, but I hope it makes sense.

I'm testing out some options so the 7800x3d looks great. You're on a site with one confirmed CPU cycle left to upgrade if needed, and it's top-notch for gaming.
