No nonsense, just a clean shutdown without a crash screen.
Hi, this situation has occurred a few times while using Lockheed Martin Prepar3D v4.5 and flying the PMDG777-300ER on extended trips. My computer suddenly shut down without any warning or BSOD. I have a couple of ideas: 1) GPU failure 2) GPU stack overflow (though GPUs are essentially the same as CPUs but optimized for graphics). Usage stays around 95-100%. 3) It likely shut down to protect the CPU. After rebooting, I checked temperatures and found the CPU running between 93–106°C, which is close to its max rating of 95°C. I’ve attached a screenshot of the Critical Error from Event Viewer. My setup includes an AMD Ryzen 5 2600 MSI with Radeon RX570, 8GB VRAM, and several cooling components. The case fans are set to 2 intake and 1 exhaust, and the stock cooler is mounted on a side panel for better airflow. I removed the acrylic side panel to boost ventilation. Thanks, TrainNutter
It's a Corsair CX550 power supply unit. Yes, overheating the CPU could be the problem, but the two crashes I experienced were limited to Chrome and a few tabs.
The problem is clearly the CPU overheating. It crashed again during video rendering. I plan to replace the thermal paste tomorrow.
