Specs: i5-12600KF Inno 3D Twin X2 4070 white Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro sl 16GBx2 white Samsung 970 EVO Plus plus 1tb Asrock B760 Pro RS/D4 Nzxt C750 bronze. Issue: Upon powering up the PC everything illuminated and all fans spun, including the GPU. Both VGA and Boot lights activated. The system failed to boot. It’s also noted that using a friend’s GPU resolved the issue. What I’m wondering is whether I can still attempt fixes or if I need to return the GPU for replacement. I’ve tried: checking connectors, resetting CMOS, placing GPU in different slots, using DP instead of HDMI, and testing with a friend’s GPU.

The fact that simply changing GPUs helped is a positive indication that the rest of your hardware is functioning. What GPU does your friend have? Are you linking via a PCIe riser? Could you test their 4070 in your friend's system?

I thought you might have checked the GPU's PCIe slot and PSU connection. Did you connect the 4070 to your power supply using a single 12Vhpwr connector or an adapter? Make sure all adapter ports are properly linked. Are you linking multiple 8-pin cables together?

650ti 2GB available. A 6+2 pin setup, but unfortunately not compatible. He just has his old GPU and the PC is no longer supporting it.

I utilized the typical 6+2 PCIe cable from the PSU maker. It also features a connector to another 6+2, but I opted for just one.

A PCIe riser is an adapter for the PCIe port, not the power connector. The card has just one 8-pin socket for power, so make sure it’s securely connected at both ends.

I searched for information, but I’m not using a riser cable. Since it’s not a modular PSU, I can only inspect the GPU side. Everything seems to be connected properly.

The best option is to return the GPU for repair.
