It's almost 9:00am, I haven't slept all night due to my failures as the friend who "knows" about computers. Hours spent to get a newly built computer to post with no success. My girlfriend, fast asleep. Her sister, half awake, waiting for her new computer to work. The family dog contemplating wether to jump on the bed a 4th time despite being scolded everytime. I wish I was that dog. Instead, I am the man with no plan or a working computer fan (they work I just needed it to rhyme...Did I mention I'm sleep deprived?) After going through every troubleshooting step I could (reseat everything, swap monitors and cables, turn on with different parts unplugged, essentially building the damn thing 4 times for the same result) I started to do research. Small sleepy monkey brain man checked the motherboard manual and noticed that it states Memory support is 2133/2666/3200 Mhz (more if OC)... I bought 3600Mhz RAM... This doesn't make sense. PCpartpicker told me my combo was compatible, surely the internet wouldn't lie to me! So I try to find more info on the matter but all I find is other people mentioning how 3600Mhz would work and they're making a build with the same mobo and ram speed, but never if they did or if it worked. I also checked the CPU specifications on Intel's website, and apparently the CPU is also limited to "up to DDR4 3200 MT/s" So, what's going on? Is PC part picker just wrong? Them and everyone else that said it should work? I don't have spare RAM lying around to swap and test. Not only that, money being trapped in the refund waiting processes without a care isn't exactly a luxury we have, so I rather not buy more RAM to test without reassurance that it's likely to be the cause. Does anyone here think I should order 3200Mhz RAM because they know that's the problem? The specs are: Motherboard: MSI Pro B760P wifi DDR4 CPU: i5 12600k GPU: XFX Speedster 6700XT Ram: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16gb DDR4 3600 CL18 Power Supply: Corsair RM750e Storage: Samsung 980 Pro 1tb
