For a long time I could boast to friends about my faster internet than anyone else's. They’d bring their computers or laptops whenever they needed to download big updates or large games. I enjoyed unlimited speeds—1.5Gbps down and 970mbps up at home, costing over $92 plus taxes for the service. It was entertaining while it lasted, but now my pride is fading since Linus upgraded to a 10Gbps connection. I still appreciate my current setup, but I’m craving even more speed. No assistance required—just wanted to share my hope.
You're asking for additional information and mentioning a location with high-speed internet options.
Significant contrast exists between necessity and desire. I’m still trying to combine two Ethernet adapters—Intel plus PCIe—to reach over 1Gbps; upgrading would be even more excessive. I think I should use a PCIe LAN adapter with 2xGb speed, avoiding the Intel model, and just stick with one PCIe connection. My current setup is still busy with my new 1660 Ti, so figuring this out hasn’t been easy.
I'm really proud of my connection speed—it's impressive, don't you think?
Must be a CPU bottleneck or you're still running a SataII motherboard?? Most Sata SSDs can easily/nearly saturate the 600Mbps that SataIII provides (Sata II is 300Mbps). For now, my RAM caches upto 5GB of download as it waits for my SSD to catch up, but if I were running a pretty good NVMe drive (and figured out paired ethernet) I could reach that 1.5Gbps write and download at the same time.
