Recently acquired a 3770K paired with a Maximus V Formula (Z77, LGA1155) and several additional components. The focus is on the RAM setup. The 3770K has been thoroughly tested over several years at speeds up to 4.8 GHz, though voltage settings remain unclear. The seller advised checking the BIOS for saved profiles that might list voltage details—none were found. A discrepancy arose when the seller’s 16GB DDR3 4x4GB 2133 MHz kit was only recognized as 8GB on the 3770K. He then replaced it with a Celeron G1610 to test reliability, which consistently detected all 16GB RAM. After resetting the system and powering it down, I encountered a code 55 error when using the 3770K + 16GB kit, even after clearing CMOS. When switching to the G1610, the issue reappeared. My theory is that the memory controller on the 3770K failed due to excessive voltage stress, though the G1610 still recognized RAM. I’ve seen memtest86 results from the seller showing the same issues, possibly indicating inconsistent testing or configuration. For guidance, consider verifying voltage specs and ensuring stable power delivery.

The Maximus V Formula supports four DIMM slots, but you're using a two DIMM kit. This might mean one or more slots are damaged, or the Integrated Memory Controller inside the CPU is faulty. I recommend testing various slot combinations first, especially with the i7-37700K, to identify the issue.

When removing the CPU, examine the socket pins closely—no damage was noted, but some may be slightly misaligned. These pins can occasionally loosen at the base, causing them to shift sideways rather than making solid contact. This is similar to what I experienced with my Z77 OCF unit. If you spot a pin that seems shifted, identify it carefully before swapping CPUs, as it might move again. You’ll need to inspect closely and gently realign it if necessary. After installation, test the CPU to ensure proper function.

The pins appear fine overall. I observed a small mark on TIM somewhere on the pins, but it shouldn’t impact performance. Using electrical cleaner spray should be safe and help eliminate any residue.
