Hi everyone,
I just completed setting up my new rig and am facing an issue with the RGB feature of the 3 case fans. The fans are working fine when connected to the CHA_FAN header, but I’m unsure how to wire them correctly on the motherboard. I used the ROG Strix B-450F motherboard and the Corsair 220T RGB case.
I tried two solutions:
1. Connected the RGB cables from the back of the case to the motherboard’s RGB header. The problem was that there are three 3-pin female cables, but only four pins available on the motherboard.
2. Used a W-splitter cable to link all three fans together. When the PC starts up, it makes a repeated beeping sound and doesn’t show any RGB activation.
I’m a bit frustrated and want to make sure I have everything right. Please let me know if I missed anything important. Thanks!
Your mainboard lacks a 5V 3-pin RGB header for addressable fans/strips, only 12V 4-pin connectors are available for standard RGB. These connectors don't match. Corsair RGB fans may use their own unique connector that isn't compatible with your motherboard's RGB ports; they must be linked to Corsair's RGB hub. Based on the 220T RGB product page, the case should include an iCUE Lighting Node CORE—connect the fan headers there and link it to your motherboard's USB header for lighting control via iCUE software. Edit: They also provide a video guide for this setup.
