I'm going through the process of upgrading and then fresh installing all of my PCs that qualify for the free Windows 10 upgrade. The following is a list of my PCs and what I use them for: Main Gaming Rig: Specs in my signature, this is my main PC I use for everything including all of my gaming. HTPC: Specs in my signature, I use this in the family room and it's used for Kodi/Netflix/Hulu etc. Never any gaming. Laptop: older Acer model, use at work for basic web browsing during lunch/coffee breaks. My question is this, which of my systems should I install a third party antivirus program on? Which of my systems should I install third party utilities on? (C-Cleaner, Spy Bot, etc.) I want to keep as much unnecessary software off these machines as possible. Please keep in mind also, I never visit any "sketchy" websites/I do not Torrent ever. Is Windows Defender good enough for any/all of these machines? I realize this question is tough to answer and a lot of personal opinions will be heard. Thanks for any and all suggestions.
MSE handles the task effectively, letting Malwarebytes scan whenever you're ready.
I prefer the free antivirus offered by BitDefender. Previously, I relied heavily on Windows Defender, but honestly it doesn’t quite meet expectations now. It still functions well and is definitely superior to nothing at all, though there are more effective and free alternatives available. Panda seems decent based on what I’ve heard, but I haven’t used it recently.
