I bought a kit for the eternal keypad and completed all soldering steps without any bridged connections. The microcontroller runs the correct firmware and connects properly via VIA, but no key presses appear on the PC. I've attached photos of the build process. Could you help identify the problem? If the controller board works, it might be an issue with the setup or software. https://imgur.com/a/2MsC2LB
Refer to the product documentation for guidance on connecting the jumper pads on the opposite side of the microcontroller. The board layout shows that when the microcontroller is mounted on through-hole pads, the adjacent pads are spaced apart, allowing installation from either side and making the PCB reversible. Ensure you follow the manual before proceeding, as it indicates the microcontroller may not be properly linked to the rest of the board at this stage.
Thank you for the suggestion—I’ll try it out in a few days when I have some free time. Feel free to let me know if that helps!
Here’s a revised version of your message:
I wanted to give you a brief update—now I’m receiving inputs from the keypad on Windows. Thanks for the advice! However, some keys aren’t responding even after switching key switches from responding ones to non-responsive ones. I’ve taken a few more photos; it seems the sockets without key switches are the ones not working. I’ve labeled them to check if there’s anything obvious I might have missed. Also, I’ve double-checked my soldering and should’ve done everything correctly. Appreciate your help again!
examined the setup more closely over the past few days. I noticed an old multimeter nearby, checked the connection between two functional sockets, and observed voltage fluctuations when power was applied and a key was pressed. However, when switching between a working and a non-working switch, there was no change in voltage, suggesting the sockets aren’t properly linking to the rest of the circuit. It might be due to a faulty solder joint or incorrect pad connection on the trace. If I used a hook-up wire and connected the Kailh socket to the next one in the trace path, would that fix the problem or indicate a defective Kailh socket? Appreciate the help again.
You might want to test your multimeter for continuity to confirm the socket contacts with the microcontroller. Make sure this is done without any power connected. Also verify that your firmware configuration is accurate.
