Usually, I appreciate you bringing this to mind—it seems Optifine might be the solution I was looking for yesterday.

This section is a bit unclear. Tj refers to the Thermal Junction. A "lag troll" likely means a delay or issue at that temperature point. The CPU hitting Tj causes shutdown because its maximum safe temperature is 110°C, which is higher than what you'd normally expect under standard conditions.

It might be that the thermal paste is no longer effective, and it could also be that the CPU fan isn't turning. Alternatively, this whole discussion might just be a joke.

It seems the device is performing poorly. The cooler isn't functioning well, and it's running at around 70°C. (Checked with an infrared thermometer outside the heat sink)

But I'm not sure how a bunch of dust gets trapped in the heat sink. (I probably said something about junction temperature wrong.)

Gather some new thermal paste online, take off the heatsink, clean it well (ensure it's completely dry before putting it back!) and you should see improvement.

Thanks! It does assist a bit since the Xeon chip is still not great (old and definitely a pain for everyone)
