In the past, with socket versions like 478, 775, or 754 (both mobile and desktop), a lot of OEM boards could be overclocked up to a certain limit. V-core was usually the main constraint. That’s when BSEL mods for Intel and pin mods for AMD became common. The further you go back, the higher the chances of successfully overclocking OEM hardware. Manufacturers now tightly control these features, so you’re often forced to accept what they offer.

The chip is quite compact and the printing will be hard to read. It usually resembles the one I mentioned earlier. The Stilt seems to be the only device on the planet with suitable tools for this task. Probably just a few select individuals, names I don’t recognize. AMD does something similar. I can’t change the BIOS on any modern Asus board without consulting The Stilt, lol. Look for some older, cheaper hardware. Socket 478 or 775 would be ideal for modifications. Socket 771 is good too. socket 939 and 754 are worth considering, and NV chipsets are the best option. Some of this equipment can be found very affordably. I searched for PLL in the Acer Aspire 5532 and discovered SLG8SP626V.
That setting wasn't included in the list, and then it crashed when I picked something else to test by trial and error. Now I have no power. I took out the battery and am waiting to reset the CMOS (or is that what they call it on laptops?). I also checked the power button.
Sure, it takes about ten minutes for the battery to fully charge. Just have to wait until the caps are depleted. This has happened a lot before...
