I thought about upgrading to Windows 10 right when it launches. The main concern is that some programs might not work or the game could be affected. I’m unsure if waiting a bit would help or if it’s better to go ahead on the day. Also, should I consider getting the Windows 10 tec preview as well?

I'm hoping someone will confirm it functions out of the box since I don't want to deal with such a frustrating issue.

For maximum stability and reliability, delay the update until after July 29. If you're okay with temporary issues or limited features, proceed with the update on the first day. EDIT: check this out

Only on my exclusive drive. My kids' PCs and my wife's PC will wait. My Windows 7 drives will remain Windows 7 until 2020, or a Windows Media Center version with complete cable card support will be created.

It seems like you might have heard about a phased rollout mentioned in a reliable news outlet. Could be a bit of a surprise if it wasn’t clear from the first mention!

Yes, you can use tools like Windows Backup or System Restore to revert to an earlier version of Windows, such as Windows 7, after installing Windows 10.

It doesn't seem to function properly on the Windows 10 tech preview. You mentioned having both the tech preview and FSX, but haven't played it after updating to 10.
