When purchasing the 12th generation now, do you still require a contact frame? It seems there are concerns about potential problems if it's over-tightened, which might lead to memory issues, or if not tightened properly, other complications could arise. It's quite frustrating trying to avoid Intel.

Purchasing a high-power Intel CPU justifies the contact frame since it helps avoid bending over time and marginally raises temperatures. However, for an i3 model, buying it offers little benefit.

Unless you reach the very highest quality and intend major speed boosts, it's not essential.

I bet around 99.9% chance the 12th and 13th gen chips lack contact frames. It’s not essential or required. Having installed them several times on different builds for my own rig, it doesn’t really matter much. So you might consider getting an AMD contact frame.

It hasn't been required before. It doesn't really enhance thermals or peak output. Only useful if you're looking for fine-tuning.

I understand your point, I’m using 13600k and was thinking about getting one for myself. But honestly, I’m not going to bother with it—I’m happy with what it does and where it goes. It’s quite finicky, even with my water cooling setup using four fans. I don’t think it’ll help bring the temps down to around 5.8GHz. I’m not comfortable with lower voltages at 1.270V, and I don’t see much benefit from a stable overclock. These CPUs are plenty available for everyday tasks like gaming; it’s just how I’ve been using them since my old 7600k. Right now, it feels like a waste of time unless there’s something special about the socket.

It really isn't crucial, though it does matter. Even with my modest 12600KF unit, my overall readings decreased slightly, but the most noticeable change was that core-to-core temperatures became more consistent.
