No, it's not a virus.
I saved a PC-88 emulator from myabandonware, but virus total listed only 1 in 65 vendors as malicious. Interestingly, the same vendor that flagged other files as viruses also warned about this one. When I tested it on my Linux laptop, it ran smoothly, though if a virus existed it probably wouldn’t affect it.
I just tested it and everything worked fine, no issues at all. Portmaster didn’t find any incoming connections from it either, which makes me think it’s probably not a virus. Plus, some folks claimed MaxSecure, the vendor who flagged it as suspicious, is already acting suspiciously themselves.
that's why you're running Virustotal, to find the fake "avs"... check with malwarebytes and windows defender, if both say you're good, 99% likelihood you're good... i mean false positives are usually easy to figure out yeah, windows defender once blocked a mod i made as a "trojan" lmao... but i still tested it with malwarebytes and VT, all came back clean, including windows defender on VT, funny enough...
Sure, understand. Make sure you gather your info—emulators or mods often show false alarms. It’s usually just marked as "unknown" or involves real hacking tools. I also notice a lot of "severe" paired with "PuP," which doesn’t quite add up since a program that’s just "potentially" unwanted is rarely classified as severe.
