Looking for a CPU upgrade that fits without swapping out your motherboard. The model listed should match your current board. For better performance than the i5-2400, consider higher-end options like i5-7600 or i7-8700, depending on your budget and needs. Always verify compatibility with your system.

It won’t work as expected. The 9600K fits an LGA1151v2 chip, not an LGA1155 connector. The top choice for LGA1155 is the 3770K, but a good recommendation depends on your budget. How much funds do you have available? You might want to consider boosting your RAM first if your budget is limited.

It runs on the Q65 chipset, which means it doesn’t support Ivy Bridge. 2600K offers the best performance available.

It seems you're suggesting it's usually smarter to purchase a new tower rather than trying to upgrade an existing one.

This setup offers a modest boost over the 2600K, potentially making it a more attractive option depending on availability. Many aftermarket boards avoid K-SKU models, which keeps the Xeon E3-1290 as the top performer. Switching to an i3-10100 or Ryzen 3 3100 system would likely provide better overall value.

I think your graphics setup might be lagging, so I suggest a Ryzen APU upgrade. It should work well overall and you won’t need to worry about the GPU.
