Hello, just bought the Gigabyte B450 Aorus M... I've heard many positive things about Gigabyte graphics cards. I assumed these motherboards are excellent... My current build includes a Ryzen 5 3600X, a Gigabyte B450 Aorus M, a Gigabyte 2070 Super X3 White OC, and G.Skill FlareX 3200Mhz (2x8GB). If I'm correct, this setup isn't ideal for overclocking. Will my CPU and RAM maintain stability during games? Thanks!

Welcome to the discussion board! Just because Gigabyte offers a "good" GPU (which varies by model) doesn't imply their other products are reliable, whether it's MSI or Asus—they all deliver quality and some may fall short. Still, the Aorus M works well with a 3600 MHz chipset, though its VRM cooling isn’t exceptional. It remains a mid-range B450 board, meaning you’ll find more features and better build quality as you invest more, but it’s not a certainty. Some higher-end boards even have poor VRM cooling. Have you verified that this motherboard supports the 3rd generation Ryzen out of the box? If not, you might need to update the BIOS. Regarding VRM performance, refer to the specifications: memory will default to 2133MHz at stock. To reach its full potential, enable XMP/DOCP mode and set it to 'Auto' for optimal speeds up to 3200MHz.

Weak power supply works when the CPU has just enough cores, but the Gigabyte B450 and X460 boards (except the Gaming 7) struggle with 2933+ RAM and especially face issues when attempting 3466.

Consider checking reviews about the model. Key points to look at include VRM capacity, BIOS chip size, board characteristics and systems related to those features. Examine the layout of the B450 chipset, including PCIe lanes and their connections. The VRM capacity sets limits on which CPUs can be used and their performance levels. BIOS size affects upgradability and available features in future updates, while chipset details may impose restrictions based on port configurations. A common issue with the B450 is that using one port can restrict the capacity of another.

The B450 Gaming X aligns with your point—it's more affordable than the B450 Aorus M and closely resembles the B450 Aorus Elite without using "Aorus" in its title. B450 Aorus Elite: Spoiler B450 Gaming X: Spoiler It seems adding "Aorus" to the name boosts its perceived value.

Typically, this applies but not always.

However, there are still more suitable choices available, often with different pricing structures.

Some issues arose a while back with the b450, and the ability to upgrade CPUs on the am4 model has changed what features are worth considering. The size of the BIOS chip wasn’t as important recently, for instance.

I’ll wait for the B550 release before offering it and estimate how long it might take to go through all the B550 mobos.
