Symantec is flagging my new LAN drivers from the Gigabytes site as malicious. Should I be cautious? Also, some images in the quick install files appear to show Asian characters. I’m unsure what to do—please assist me. Also, this file was downloaded directly from the Gigabytes website.
It came from gigabyte.us, so it's not a virus. The Asian text might be because Gigabyte motherboards are produced in Taiwan.
AV software may occasionally display false alarms. Downloading files from trusted sites like gigabytes' official website should be safe, unless a malicious actor takes control of the site—which is rare.
Person who requires antivirus protection is only necessary if you engage in risky online behavior. I've kept my PCs virus-free for a whole year without any issues.
